About the Founder – From the Galactic Saber Store
Hi there! I'm Kevin — founder of the Galactic Saber Store, lifelong Star Wars enthusiast, and self-proclaimed saber fanatic.
The very first time I watched a Star Wars movie, it completely changed the way I saw storytelling, adventure, and imagination. I was a kid, wide-eyed and totally immersed in a universe filled with incredible visuals, epic characters, and galaxies far, far away. I still vividly remember the moment a massive Star Destroyer entered the screen — I sat there with my mouth open, in absolute awe. It was unlike anything I had ever seen in a movie before.
But the moment that truly changed everything for me was when I first witnessed the lightsaber battle between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader in Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back. That iconic hum, the glowing blades clashing in the dark… I was hooked for life. I must have watched that scene five more times in a row.
From that day on, I was obsessed with lightsabers. At just six years old, I started making my own sabers from empty cardboard tubes. I'd swing them around, play Jedi in the backyard, and keep crafting new ones as the old ones wore out. Then, for my eighth birthday, my mom gave me a $10 plastic lightsaber — probably one of the simplest toys on the market at the time. But to me? It was everything. I was over the moon, and to this day, it remains one of the best gifts I’ve ever received.
Fast forward 25 years later, and that obsession never left me. In fact, it only grew stronger. When I finally decided I wanted a high-quality, authentic, metal saber — the kind worthy of a true Jedi — I couldn’t find one that was either affordable or available locally. Prices were way out of my reach, and I was frustrated that something so iconic wasn’t accessible. That’s when I had the idea: what if I started buying cheaper sabers, customizing them, and reselling them to raise money for a real one?
That plan worked. After a few months, I’d saved up enough to invest in my first airbrush and began experimenting with custom paint jobs on budget sabers. What started as a passion project quickly turned into something more.
These days, my home pretty much looks like a saber workshop — with grinding machines, airbrushes, drills, and even a laser engraver. (Don’t worry, there’s still a spot for guests to sit — we’ll make room!) I hand-build every saber myself, using only premium materials and the best components on the market. From Neopixel blades to smooth swing soundboards, each saber is carefully crafted with attention to every detail — both inside and out.
I'm not alone in this journey. My amazing wife Rianne and I make a great husband-wife team. Together, we share a deep love for science fiction, fantasy, and especially everything Star Wars. What started as a hobby has become our full-time job — and the way we support our little family.
In 2021, we officially launched the Galactic Saber Store. Instead of being third-party vendors or hobbyists selling through other platforms, we proudly became small business owners with our own brand and website. Today, we’re honored to serve saber fans across the globe.
Every saber we make is a reflection of our love for the galaxy that inspired us. From the initial concept and design to material selection, assembly, and fine-tuning the electronics — we pour our hearts into every piece. We don’t believe in sacrificing durability for good looks. We aim to build sabers that aren’t just beautiful, but also long-lasting — the kind of weapon you’ll want to show off for years.
